About this mod

Andraste\'s weapons

Permissions and credits

This is our second release in a set of themed mods we have been working on. It is the "sister" mod of Sword of Mercy. We hope you enjoy this one as much as our first one, Elvhenan Weapons. We added an elf vendor that will carry these for those of you who would like to "earn" them in a more standard gameplay fashion. Rapture-X Vendor

History of Andraste's Weapons
"These weapons were given to Andraste to help her fight the Tevinter Imperium by the elves. This set was thought to have been lost along with the Elvhenan weapons. The magisters' confidence was shaken due to the towering reputations of these blades now in the hands of Andraste. This set was one of the greatest treasures the elves still possessed that had not been stolen or looted by the Imperium. Though these weapons were of lesser purity than the pinnacle of elven craftsmanship, the Elvhenan weapons, they still were weapons of great power. They were forged in a similar manner and the metal was dubbed "Alamarri Steel" after the smith who first used this method, Alamar. He had a very distinctive style and it was easy to recognize when it was his work.

The elves were granted land in the Dales for their loyalty in the struggle against the Tevinter Imperium by Maferath and Andraste's sons. The set later began to be called "Vir Adahlen" which means "Way of the Forest" by the elves inhabiting the Dales. This was taken from the Dalish code of the same name which states, "Together we are stronger than the one". The Dagger, named Vir and the longsword, named Adahlen were beautiful and elegant weapons that the elves had believed Andraste was fit to wield.

In the years to come, the humans respected the elves' right to pursue their lost lore and culture, including the worship of their former gods. Over time as the Chant of Light and the worship of the Maker spread, diplomatic relations were strained. The elves refused to be converted by the Chantry to worship of the Maker. This eventually lead to the Exalted March against them with the Chantry claiming they been attacked by the Dales. The elves were horrified to see the gifts they had given Andraste being used against them.

Sometime soon after the Dales fell, an elven master rogue broke into the Chantry where they were stored and spirited them off to a location unknown. She was a follower of the "Vir Bor'Assan" aspect of the Dalish code which means "Way of the Bow" whose blood burned at the thought of the Chantry having possession of these weapons and having used them against her people. The Vir Bor'Assan code states "Bend, but never break". No one knew where she put them.

The next appearance of these weapons didn't occur until Garahel, the elven Grey Warden Hero of the Fourth Blight, showed up with them at the liberation of Hossberg in 5:20 Exalted. He carried them until he faced and slayed the Archdemon, Andoral, and thus lost his own life. The weapons were returned to the Dalish elves in accordance with an agreement the Grey Wardens had with them. They faded from history after that and became a forgotten legend."

Origins of these models:
These swords were originally released by Nicoroshi as a modder's resource. The models used were The Talon of Akatosh and the dagger from the Wyrmfang set. They have a custom material type, Alamarri Steel. They were imported, made ready for DA, scripted and packaged up by my friend and partner, InBleedingRapture who I expect you will be seeing other great things from in the future. We also have another weapon set and an armor mod or two in the works. Stay tuned. ;)

Getting the weapons:
You can now use our optional "Inventory spawn" file if you want a complete set to spawn in your inventory upon loading a save game without having to use the console. This will only spawn 1 set upon first loading a save game after the optional file is installed so it doesn't fill up your inventory. You can still use the add weapon commands to get more while using the optional "Inventory spawn" file. Use the console script "runscript andrastes_weapons" and it will spawn a set in your inventory. You MUST use the console command runscript andrastes_weapons if you don't use the optional "Inventory spawn" file to get these weapons.

*NOTICE*
I discovered our "Inventory spawn optional file" has the same common issue with creating new characters and then having the inventory not spawn if the either of the "Full versions" are enabled when you create the new character. To get around this, uncheck "Andraste's Weapons" in the "Installed Content" of the *DLC menu BEFORE you create a new character. After you have saved your game for the first time with your new character, exit to the *DLC menu and re-enable our mod. Load your save of your newly created character and the weapons will have spawned correctly in your new character's inventory. This is a common issue with mods and the method to get around this DA bug should work for most of the other mods you might be having a similar issue with.
*DLC menu = Downloadable Content menu or "Download Content" menu for short.

Installation:
Unzip with 7-zip found here to a temp location on your hard drive.
We recommend you install this via a modmanager. It has been tested on DAO-Modmanager.
Take the andrastes_weapons.cif that you unzip from the "Inventory spawn" optional file and put it in your override file to have the weapons spawn into your inventory. They will only spawn once to keep your inventory from filling up.

Installation via the DAupdater:
1. Unzip the 7-zip archive to a location you will remember. You can get 7-zip here if you don't have it.
2. Open the program daupdater.exe, which is in your Dragon Age\bin_ship folder.
3. Click "Select DAZIPs" and locate the "andrastes_weapons_v1_0.dazip" or simply drag and drop the file into the dauptater window.
4. Select the dazip from the list and then press "Install Selected."
5. Take the andrastes_weapons.cif that you unzip from the "Inventory spawn" optional file and put it in your override file to have the weapons spawn into your inventory. They will only spawn once to keep your inventory from filling up.

Requirements:
You will need to have your console enabled. You must use a console script to add them to your inventory for now. (unless you use our optional inventory spawn file) Here is the wiki that explains how to enable your console if you haven't already: Enabling your Console
The script you will have to type to get these are "runscript andrastes_weapons"

Recommendations:
Make CONSOLE Commands Visible mod found here.
It makes it much easier if you can actual read what you are typing.
