About this mod

This mod increases the visibility of enemy and player health bars and replaces the default crosshair / reticle with a much more accurate version.

Requirements
Permissions and credits
This mod is a work in progress but I decided to upload it in the current state after I did the crosshair fix since aiming with bows was so much better.
Arrows would hit gradually to the right of the center of the original crosshair as distance increased. After testing with about 300 arrows I finally made a crosshair that works at all distances. A tip for using the new crosshair is to fire at your distant target using the top marks and watch which mark the arrow hits the target at. Then you just need to aim using that new mark on the crosshair.
The HUD was done to my personal preference and my aim was not to maintain the art style of DS but to create a cleaner look and improve the usability. I have included the crosshair fix separately if you wish to maintain the rest of the HUD in the original style. I have also included a template file for the main HUD for anyone that wants to create HUD texture mods.

CHANGES:
  • Enemy and player health and stamina bars are now highly visible
  • Enemy target indicator changed
  • Background for items, weapons etc, souls, and humanity was made more transparent
  • Significantly improved the accuracy of the crosshair

INSTALLATION:
WARNING - Installing this mod may replace textures from other HUD/UI texture mods that you have previously installed.
This mod requires DSFix by Durante and you really should not be playing DS without DSfix anyway ;) After installing DSfix set enableTextureOverride to 1 in dsfix.ini.
I highly recommend using UI III by Khonziel with my mod so you would need to install that mod first if you like. If you installed UI III, only extract e3e2582d.png from my All changes folder to \Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition\DATA\dsfix\tex_override folder and when prompted, choose to replace the UI III file. If you are not using UI III then just extract all the files from the All Changes folder for both HUD and crosshair changes or just the e3e2582d.png file from the Only Crosshair folder if you just want the crosshair.

UNINSTALL:
Remove any files that you extracted from this mod in the tex_override folder. If you mixed this mod with other UI mods like UI III you may need to reinstall those other mods.

FUTURE PLANS:
I may do some work on the boss enemy health bars and polish the HUD a bit more if I'm not too busy playing DS, DS2 and DS3 :P
