The reason given by the author is: While I have enjoyed this project greatly and have learned much from it I believe that it must end on the grounds that I can no longer believe in Red Hook's ability in refining the game and making it fulfill its design vision and goals before release and they further do not respect serious feedback unless it is entirely positive. I still believe in their original vision, just that Red Hook won't be the one that realizes that. As a modder, fixing the game isn't my place. Customizing, refining, or expanding it is. While it is still theoritically possible these differences can be resolved, I gave them plenty of time before making my decision and got either evasive non responses or no responses at all. That's proof positive they don't value the people that spend extreme amounts of time helping them and want only respect in return and can't even get that much.
If you are offended by the notion your Early Access game is in need of fixes you shouldn't be in Early Access. That's the core of the conflict.
