------

A colour pack nearly over 2 months in the making, the "Unofficial Palette Expansion Pack" adds 75 new, subtle recolours to every official class in the game, 5 for each class. This pack was done with as much skill and care as I possibly can. Every single sprite was edited, sometimes even down to literal pixels, touched up, saturated and coloured to match the ascetics of the official palettes and the actual game to make sure they do not look out of place. I also used self-imposed rules to only edit parts that only Red Hook themselves touched in their palettes (outside of very few expectations) to make them as "official" as possible.

Each class also has custom affliction and virtue art, except for the Grave Robber, because I never made any for my earlier A&V Palette Pack due to her already having official ones, and the Hellion because I'm not happy with how the current sprites and edits turned up. They will come in the near future.

To install, simply drop the file into your "DarkestDungeon" Folder. If you are unfamiliar how the actual files work. each skin folder is labelled "A" to "Z", with A-D being the default skins, meaning that you can have a maximum of 26 skins (I believe). These skins takes up the "E", "F", "G", "H" and "I" folders. If you have another skin taking up that folder, it will be replace so be careful if you haven't downloaded skins before. If you don't want a skin replaced, simply rename the "classX_Y" folder to any open Letter, with "classX" being the hero and "Y" being whatever the letter is already taken up.

Alternately, you can download the "QRSTU" version instead which takes the "Q", "R", "S", "T" and "U" folders, which will less likely to replace skins. Do not download both however, because that will create duplicates of these skins.

Any feedback or suggestions is always welcome. If there are any errors with the sprites, any opinions on the pack, or any suggestions to improve the palettes or even new ideas, please feel free to share.

There isn't much else to say really. This pack has colours and lots of colours. I know people love colours. I hope everyone enjoys them.

Changelog:

June 25th, 2017- Updated the Crusader Combat Sprites to the new sprite layout from two days ago. Optimized the Hellion Combat Sprite. While nowhere as bad as the Crusader, there should be less artifacts now. Changed the Cyan (G) Palette of the Crusader to use a solid cloth colour with no trim, like
the White Palette. This should make the palette stand out a bit more. Plus the old "Trim to No Trim" ratio was a bit one sided. Added my custom portrait fixes for the original Red Abomination & Green Plague Doctor. It was a problem especially with the Plague Doctor where the default one had a white mask, but the portrait depicts her with a more tannish one. Incorporated my old "Art Fixes" mod to this one. A few errors on the default palettes are now corrected.

January 12th, 2017- Updated to 1.4. This version changes a few of the Crusaders colours. I wanted to fit in the Teal Crusader from the recent short comics a few months back, so I replaced the Brown design, Brown & White to Teal & Gold, matching the comic, since it already had the more steel-like armour. The Brown cloth is moved to the Full Dark Armour design, replacing the previous Burgundy cloth. The old Burgundy has been moved
to my "Misc Skin Pack" for those who might still prefer the old design, like a few of the older ones here.

I have also included an optional "Lite" version that only has two of each colours instead of five. This is for people who do not want to be bogged down with too many skins in the game and also there are reports of some people having stability issues if they have too many palettes/skins in the game.

December 28nd, 2016 - Another new update! This one is an actual, but minor, update this time. I've gone back and slightly reworked the Blue Highwayman a bit by giving him back his purple scarf & gloves and swap the skin tones of his Orange colour, due to it kinda blending with the Orange Scarf. This should have better consistently with the rest of the skins. Only the two Highwaymen (E & G) were changed in this update. The previous Blue kickstarter highwayman has been moved to the Misc Skin Pack.

New Update! Okay, not really. I have only done 2 things. I have reformatted the image files and replaced the Blue & Purple Highwayman with the Blue & Yellow one from my old Kickstarter Skin Pack. I did this because I felt the other Highwayman fit the ascetics of the game better than the other one. The old Blue Highwayman can now be found in my "Misc Skin Pack", along with the older previous skins & my separate skin downloads, such as the Cultist Vestal and Plague Knight.

I should also note that I had my Hard Drive recently failed on me a few months back. As a result, I unfortunately lost all my original photoshop files on these sprites, which means that I would have to restart on every single sprite by hand. I will get started on the new class as soon as it comes out, but for the current sprites, this will probably be the last update for them.

August 7th - There was an error with one of the Jester Palettes. I forgot to rename some of the images to their proper name so they weren't appearing properly ingame. I've fixed it and reloaded the file, as well as double checking every image to make sure it's correct. The mod should be working 100% correctly, but as always, any feedback or problems to report is always welcome. thanks to Spacedoutcapibara for pointing out the problem.

July 24th - Wow, for whatever reason, the pack that was uploaded only contained 66% of the actual sprites. I don't know if the RAR was corrupted, the Nexus uploader deleted some folders, or I just plainly messed up, but it should be fixed now, hopefully. Thanks for the people who pointed it out. Also sorry for the inconvenience and I should have noticed it sooner.

Also, I touched up both the Man-at-Arms 5th & Vestal's 8th palettes to make them stand out better. I also re-done the 9th palettes for both the Jester and the Vestal. Neither of them I wasn't too practically happy with. I wanted to do a Yellow palette for the Vestal and was completely stuck on the Jester, but I couldn't come up with anything that could have worked at the time, so I came up with Green palettes that did work, but has the problem with already having green palettes (Unlike the Plague Doctor, which is based on her incorrect portrait image.). Readjusting the old White & Blue Jester and learning from the Yellow Crusader (I did the Crusader after I worked on the Vestal), I believe I came up with something that stands out better. Both the green palettes for the Jester and the Vestal are now located in the "Older Palettes" file for peoples convenience.

July 18th - Version 1.1 is finally here. This new update includes both 1 new recolour, bumping up the total to 75 and various fixes and overhauls to the
existing colours based on both feedback and due to how the lighting system in the game works caused some of the colours to be rendered incredibly bright. Overall, the presentation of the pack should be much better and match the default palettes better. The various changes in this update are:

  • Darken the skin colour of Abomination H to differ him from the original C Palette
  • Adjusted the skin tone of Antiquarian H to again, differ her from the C Palette, which she used originally.
  • Added slightly more red to the helmet of the Bounty Hunters F Palette
  • Overhauled the H Palette of the Bounty Hunter. I've changed the belts and details from Navy to Black and darken the Gold Metals on his Helmet & Shoulders to better match the Yellow Leathers. Basically more Scorpion and Less (Classic) Batman.
  • Changed the Crusaders H Palette to have no trim on his cloth to differ him from the standard Red Palette B.
  • Slightly Darken the skin colours of the Hellion G palette and Houndmaster E palette due to them being rendered too bright ingame. They are still lighter than normal, but should be visually better.
  • Adjusted the skin tones on all 4 Highwayman skins to make them stand out more from their default counterparts and slightly brighten the purple bits of his G Palette.
  • Slightly darkened and adjusted the Jesters E and G Palettes.
  • Completely overhauled the White, F Palette. He now has Dark Red Trims and warmer coloured garbs. Both this and the other two is due to several complaints of the Jester Palettes being too Pastel, Colourful, and "Not menacing enough" with the tone of the game. Hopefully that should help, but the original White & Blue Jester is in the optional Download.
  • Reversed the Shoulder Trims on the Green, F Man-at-Arms to make him slightly stand out better.
  • Changed the Man-at-Arms H Palettes Armour to "Vestal Silver".
  • Overhauled the F Palette of the Vestal (The Blue one) by giving her darker armour, gold robe trims and a redder skin tone. This is to differ her from Roelflo's Blue Vestal.

I should say this will be the last significant update for this pack as I feel like any more re-colours would over-saturate this pack in my opinion and 5 is more than plenty for the purpose of this pack. I'm also pretty burned out editing every single hero by hand for over half a year and I really need to take a break. Finally, the other thing is that I learned that having too many reskins in the game makes Darkest Dungeon more unstable according to MaesterSilvio. Something I didn't know about when starting this skin pack.

I won't completely stop though. As always, all feedback is more than welcome and if there is any errors or if you have an opinion on any of the skin palettes in this pack, you are most welcome to share. I will update the pack if any such problems show up or if there is a palette that people significantly dislike.

I hope everyone enjoys the new update.

May 23rd
- Musketeer added. Unlike the rest, this includes 5 palettes instead of 4. You find out why soon enough. The palettes are based on the armour upgrade sprites which aren't actually used for her palettes except her final one, an actual Musketeer, and a black and white one because I thought it look neat. Affliction and Virtue art is included. The alternate "QRST" and now "U" folder version is included within the core file. Again, don't use both versions or you'll have duplicate versions

May 1st - Fixed and error with the 5th Palette Antiquarian's Portrait and Added Affliction and Virtue Sprites for the Arbalest. They were already made, but I forgot to put them in the pack.
