About this mod

This mod replaces the Stock default Affliction and Virtue Art with versions that closer matches the heroes 2nd, 3rd, and 4th colour palettes. This is the completed and hopefully final version.

Permissions and credits
If you been playing Darkest Dungeon for awhile, you have probably noticed that almost all of the Affliction and Virtue art just uses the artwork for the default, or first, colour palette. Now, for some of them, such as the Man of Arms, Abomination and Crusader to name a few are either very minor or subtle where you won't notice (or care), or are pretty identical. But for most, it's extremely jarring when your heroes clothes and/or skin change to a completely different colour, even though it only appears for a few seconds.

This is where this mod comes in. The "Better Affliction and Virtue Art for Colour Palettes" is an unofficial mod that changes the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Colours of (as of February) 14 of the 15 classes, from the default art to that of which matches closer to the actual palette. Note that the Grave Robber is not included since she is the only class in the game that has matching Affliction and Virtue Art.

Changelog:

May 22nd - Finally got around to editing art for the long awaited (?) Musketeer. Sorry about the delay, but other projects, work, reality and other personal matters have taken a lot of my time.

Unlike the regular classes who has their 1st default palette for their art, her Affliction and Virtue art is closely based on her 4th palette, but not exactly. Most of her clothes (Her Main Coat and Cape) are based on her 2nd sprite, but everything else (Hair, Trims, Gloves and Feathers) belongs on her 4th palette.

Anyways, this replaces files "A, B and C" and not "B, C and D" unlike the main file. There is an optional file that includes a more accurate D palette that represents her sprite better, which basically changes her beige coat and blue cape to red.

Obviously, this requires the original Musketeer files.

March 12th - Added the Antiquarian to the main file now that she has left beta. Nothing has changed. If you have download the former separate file, there is no need to download the updated one.

Update: March 8th - Added the Antiquarian. Because she's currently in beta and not officially released (The GoG version does not currently have this update), the Antiquarian will be available as a separate download for the time being.

Update: February 27th - Added the Arbalest and the Leper, thus completing this project in the game's current state. Unless the two upcoming classes require editing, the only things left to do is to finish optional side mods (Such as the Hellion's Facepaint), fixing errors or doing minor touch ups. (Reminder, if you downloaded the Trimless Hood Vestal file before this date, check the heroes folder and either correct the error or redownload the file.)

Update: February 24th - Added the Bounty Hunter and the Houndmaster. Included an optional file for the Vestal. One that colours her hood trim to match
the same colour of her robes, as depicted in her normal and combat sprites.

Update: February 18th - Added the Occultist. Fixed a small oversight on the Man at Arms C palette with his Afflicted Art.

Update: February 15th - Added the Abomination and Man at Arms.

Upcoming Timeline:

Hellion - Will do a version that Includes her facepaint, which is missing from her Affliction and Virtue Artwork. There is official concept art of her Virtue Pose with her default facepaint which helps, but everything else has to be done from scratch.

To install, just drop the file into your "DarkestDungeon" folder. The steam version should be located in the "Steam/steamapps/common" folder or can be found through steam by right clicking the game tab, Properties, Local Files, and "Browse Local Files". The GoG/DRM free version should be located in your "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)" folder, located in whatever drive you installed the game in.

If you run into any problems, or not happy with the current product, you can revert back to the originals by simply copying and pasting the default first, or "A", palette with the corresponding hero. ie. crusader/crusader_A/. The two PNG's are "hero.sprite.afflicted", and "hero.sprite.heroic" respectively, with "hero" being the class you want. If you are using one of the optional files that replaces the default first palette, the file includes an backup version of the original file.

One thing I want to point out is that the Affliction/Virtue artwork does not match the sprite itself. For most, it's completely minor such as the Jesters gloves, or the Highwayman lack of jacket trim, but the two biggest offenders is the Hellion, who does not have facepaint, and the Vestal, who has this trim on her hood which does not appear on her sprite. Now, I'm trying to match the official graphics to get it as close as Red Hook would do it, so I didn't completely overhaul the Art, rather work with it.

I'm also by far not an artist and only have average skill with Photoshop (at best). As well as not having the actual layers or palettes, there is only so much I can do with the tools and skill I have, but I'll still try my best. It's not perfect, but I'm still happy how the current versions came out.

If you run into any problems or have any suggestions or feedback, please let me know in the comments.
